About the Role
aFit is seeking a Data Architect to support a State of Indiana government organization that serves as a centralized data and analytics hub supporting data-driven decision making and improved public services across the state. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity based in Indianapolis, offering the chance to work with enterprise-scale data initiatives that influence multiple agencies and stakeholders.
In this role, you will design and implement enterprise data architecture solutions while supporting data governance frameworks, integration strategies, and long-term data management initiatives. You will collaborate with both technical and business teams to ensure data is reliable, accessible, secure, and aligned with organizational goals.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills and a desire to grow within a highly collaborative team environment.
What You'll Do
Data Strategy & Architecture
- Design and implement enterprise data architecture solutions
- Develop data models, standards, and integration strategies
- Support enterprise data governance initiatives aligned with DCAM and DMBOK frameworks
- Ensure data quality, integrity, stewardship, and consistency across systems
- Analyze data requirements for existing and future business applications
Data Integration & Technology Leadership
- Develop and oversee ETL processes and data integration workflows
- Support cloud-based data environments, including Azure, AWS, and Azure Databricks
- Participate in data platform modernization and migration initiatives
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions
- Support enterprise data warehousing and analytics platforms
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Consult with stakeholders to gather requirements and identify business needs
- Translate complex technical concepts into actionable recommendations
- Provide guidance on data architecture best practices
- Support user agencies and information systems personnel in maximizing data utilization
Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead data-related projects and software implementations
- Develop and manage project work plans and priorities
- Coordinate project activities and technical resources
- Mentor team members and provide guidance on specialized initiatives
- Contribute to long-term enterprise data strategy planning
